David Bergeron is a Vancouver-based musician who makes emotive and experimentally-driven ambient music under the alias Quiet i. His style is informed by improvisation and communication, with a sonic output that holds strong resonances within film and installation art.
Quiet i’s four conceptual albums explore texture, noise and ambience while embracing elements of harmonic arrangement. Each release is sonically unique, using a variety of creative production techniques, and coming from a diverse range of influences including Plunderphonics, classical composition, and Minimalism.
David holds a Bachelor of Music Honours and a Masters in Film and Media Arts from the University of Windsor. His work has been performed by ensembles across Ontario, with collaborations screened and exhibited across Canada and the U.S.A., and internationally in Japan, Europe, and Iran.

Day One - Short Film
Film by Xavier Vance, Soundtrack composed and produced by David Bergeron
Day One is a narrative short film based around a young, Black couple in today’s America who have just found out that
they are expecting a child. Day One seeks to challenge the stereotypical Black love relationship, and convey a multilayered, non-toxic Black love story.
Rollerbabies (of Paradise) - Short Film
Rollerbabies (of Paradise) is an audio video collaboration between David Bergeron and Julie Sando.
The world wide web is a powerful leveller: content that was once produced and controlled by publishers, industries and
institutions is often freely available to be conjured, shared and re-shared in a variety of non-hierarchal ways. This is perhaps
especially true of pornography, long known to be one of the central drivers of web-based technological change and commerce. Rollerbabies (of Paradise) is a montage that exhausts all promises
of the exotic and the erotic found in the original films: Bird of Paradise (1932), Rollerball (1975) and Rollerbabies (1976). As a work of satire, this piece embodies its suspicions and questions many
of the voyeuristic gazes found in these earlier sources. Designed as an anti-spectacle, the visuals emphasize the juxtapositions of roughly cut transitions upon the repeated movements of the bored skaters.
With its sugary violins, the soundtrack is reminiscent of the kind of sentimental music used in iconic love stories.
It offers a counter-narrative of a dreamy yet saccharine world.
Blightmare - Video Game
David created music and sound effects for Plateau Games' project called Blightmare.

Discography
Earthlings (Full Length) - December 2024
The Sci-fi term Earthlings is a surprisingly useful term. It’s inclusive and encompasses all life on Earth. In sci-fi context it is usually used by an alien talking about humans, but all plants, microbes, and any other life originating on Earth can all be classified as Earthlings. I started to think about this every time I forage for food. I am spending time with the non-human Earthlings.
Each track on this album sonically interprets a kingdoms of life found here on Earth.
Music Composed and Produced by David Bergeron.
Violin performance by Isaac Zee Album artwork by Laara Bonn https://quieti.bandcamp.com/album/earthlingsAnd Time Began To Flow (Ep) - August 2021
And Time Began To Flow is a convergence of events. It outlines three realizations/occurrences that need to happen for “time” to flow again. In this instance, time is not literal time, but the perception of time. Our perception of time is often punctuation by physical events, locations, and changes in our lives on a micro and macro level.
The titles can be read as a poem but also imply a vague narrative which outlines a moment of significant change.
The Past Weaves The Present is a realization that the present is a trajectory that can be traced to the beginning of all and a coming to terms with the impact of our decisions, reactions, and actions.
The Break Allows The Wind To Enter is a malfunction, tear, gap, or crack that once it happens, lets wind pass through/into a solid surface or a space. The tear itself is undesirable and non-intentional, but its creates a connection between the familiar and unfamiliar.
The wind that has entered the space is refreshing, re-animating, a source of motion, and potentially life - A toy merry-go-round begins to rotate, A Bird lifts its wing, A human decides to stand, and The Static Is Given Life Through Motion.

Pre-Verbal is melodic ambient album mixes organic piano and saxophone performances with electronic synthesizers. There is a slow evolution which captivates and takes the listener on an engaging ark of energy.
Pre-Verbal is about communication. Communication about/before words.

Lookings is an ambient audio/video series that explores the relationship between the subject, viewer, and landscape. Currently, there are seven installments to the series that also functions collectively as a standalone full length album of music.
The videos create a form of tension for the viewer, pushing them to question what is the focus and subject of the video. The videos frame a single human, outlining a clear subject and creating a connection between the subject and viewer. Is it possible to see the environment as a subject when a human is present? If the viewer does visually explore the environment, does the subject gradually transition from foreground to background? Alternatively - what is figure and what is ground?
